You just have to keep working at it

Nov 27, 2020

You just have to keep working at it.

The answer to, how do you finally get an alcohol-free lifestyle to stick?

There is no magic pill that is going to do the work for you. Sure, you may try Antabuse or Nalextrone (I'm not a doctor so discuss those options with a medical professional), but no matter if you take medicine to help you or not, it's not going to "cure" you.

They may take the option of drinking off the table or make drinking look less appealing, but the reasons you drank, to begin with, are still there, and until you work on those, you'll keep going back to your same old patterns.

The more you become aware of your triggers, thought patterns, and how you've used alcohol to cope in the past, the better you will become at dissecting the thoughts and CHOOSING to look at alcohol differently. This all boils down to doing the work.

Doing the work may be going to therapy or working with a coach. These two avenues actually help you look at the underlying issues and work on them so that you choose a healthy coping mechanism when anxiety, sadness, or overwhelm creep in, NOT your beloved glass or 2 or a bottle of wine at the end of the day.

Even when you feel that your "work" is done and you're not thinking about alcohol as much, keep doing the work. The reason why you're not thinking about alcohol and doing well on your journey is because you're doing those things that are helping you look at alcohol differently and choosing healthy coping mechanisms.

Speaking of doing the work. Until 11/30, the 30 Day Alcohol-Free Journaling Mini Course is $27! My gift to you this holiday season is to start identifying your thoughts, and we can't do that while they're all jumbled in our head. This mini course helps you identify what is really going on in your head, so you can become aware and then ultimately start to change those thoughts for the better.

Need more accountability and support than journaling? The 60 Day Alcohol-Free Challenge starting December 1st is the perfect way to change your relationship with alcohol WITHOUT feeling deprived. No discount on this for Black Friday because this challenge is already valued at $2100 and is ONLY $247 for 60 days of daily content, daily journal prompts, daily audio lessons, daily accountability check-ins, a 30 minute 1:1 call with me (@sobermomcoach), FOUR group coaching calls, and support from me and 39 other mothers to get you through the end of 2020 with less booze and more patience.

All my prices will be increasing in 2021, so if you've ever been on the fence, this is the time to take that leap of faith. I can guarantee that it will be worth it. I'm a little biased, so if you don't believe me check out the entire page of mothers who have completed the alcohol-free challenge. Take a look at the website to grab your spot, read the testimonials, or snag the discount on the journaling mini course.
